Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice RV Malimath emphasized the need for improved infrastructure and a long-term vision to address the issue of case pendency and the suffering of litigants. He highlighted these points during a gathering in Jabalpur after virtually laying the foundation stone for the MP High Court’s infrastructure development projects in Jabalpur, Indore, and Gwalior.

  • Focus on Litigants: He urged judicial members to prioritize the needs of litigants, empathizing with their prolonged wait for justice.
  • Justice System Improvement: Malimath called for a collective effort from the bar and bench to bring meaningful changes to the justice delivery system.
  • Gwalior Court Complex: The district court complex in Gwalior took 16 years to complete, far exceeding the estimated 36-month timeline and initial Rs 19.72 crore budget.
  • Completion Costs: The final cost of the Gwalior court complex was over Rs 100 crore, reflecting significant delays and budget overruns.
  • New Judicial Projects: The new MP State Judicial Academy complex will cost Rs 485.84 crore, and new high court buildings in Indore and Gwalior will cost Rs 307.68 crore and Rs 406.23 crore, respectively.
  • Event Attendees: The event was attended by Justice S.A. Dharmadhikari, Justice Vivek Rusia, Justice Vivek Agarwal, and other judges of the MP High Court.
  • Commitment to Change: Malimath expressed hope that the new buildings would be completed promptly, aiding in the dispensation of justice.
