The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued forecasts indicating the imminent arrival of monsoon in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar by June 19-20. Anticipating significant rainfall, IMD also placed Delhi under an orange alert amidst prevailing heatwave conditions. The forecast predicts heavy downpours across Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Northwest Bay of Bengal, and parts of West Bengal and Bihar in the next few days.
IMD forecasts the onset of monsoon in the southwest region post June 19-20, signaling a shift in weather patterns crucial for agricultural sectors and water management.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh continues to battle severe heatwaves until June 18, with districts like Bulandshahr, Varanasi, and Agra under a red alert. The national capital, along with Punjab and Haryana, faces an orange alert due to intense heatwave conditions.
In Guwahati, heavy rainfall has led to severe waterlogging in areas such as Anil Nagar and Chandmari, severely disrupting daily life. IMD has issued alerts for Assam and Meghalaya, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall until June 20, with exceptionally heavy rainfall expected on June 18.
