Australian pace bowler Mitchell Starc has dispelled concerns over his physical condition following his impressive performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL), asserting his readiness for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Mitchell Starc, 34, showcased his prowess during the IPL, contributing significantly to the Kolkata Knight Riders’ third title triumph against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Despite the tournament’s challenging heatwave conditions, Mitchell Starc delivered a standout performance, claiming 17 wickets in 13 matches, including a player-of-the-match performance in the final.

Addressing concerns about his fitness, Mitchell Starc reassured reporters during a post-match press conference that his body was in optimal condition. Drawing on his experience and extensive cricketing career, Mitchell Starc emphasized his ability to manage physical demands, particularly in the T20 format, which he considers less taxing than Test cricket.

Looking ahead to the T20 World Cup scheduled in the United States and the West Indies, Mitchell Starc expressed confidence that the comparatively cooler conditions in the West Indies would be conducive to his performance. He highlighted his enthusiasm for the upcoming tournament and reiterated his commitment to representing Australia at the highest level.

Reflecting on his career trajectory, Mitchell Starc acknowledged his advancing age and hinted at potential adjustments to his cricketing commitments in the future. While contemplating his future involvement in different formats, he expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has had to represent Australia across all three international formats.

In terms of his post-tournament plans, Mitchell Starc mentioned the importance of taking time off to rest and rejuvenate, emphasizing the significance of spending quality time with his family.

With an impressive tally of 668 wickets across all international formats, Mitchell Starc remains a formidable asset for the Australian cricket team. While acknowledging the IPL’s batsman-friendly conditions, he anticipates a different dynamic in the T20 World Cup, emphasizing the potential role of bowlers in shaping matches.
