New Delhi [India], February 14 (ANI): Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena praised the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for extending its work beyond the capital for the first time by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for development projects in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Saxena expressed confidence that the collaboration would be a significant milestone for both the DDA and the islands, fostering stronger ties between regions.

He highlighted that the DDA’s expertise in areas such as housing, parks, and sports complexes–key to shaping Delhi’s infrastructure–would now contribute to the development of other states.

Speaking to ANI, LG Saxena said, “Today is a historic day as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has come to work outside Delhi for the first time. The Andaman-Nicobar Island is a very important region of India, so the development of the region from every point of view from tourism to strategic planning is very important.”

“The DDA has played a very important role in the development of Delhi, whether it was housing, parks or sports complexes. What DDA has done in the last 2-3 years is amazing. It was decided here today that DDA should take its expertise to the other states as well and become a part of their development as well,” he said.

Adding further, he said, “Today the Mou which has been signed is a part of that development. It will prove to be a big milestone for both DDA and the Andaman Nicobar Islands. It will also improve friendship between the states.”

Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Devendra Kumar Joshi also spoke to ANI over the MoU signed between the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

“DDA supported us a lot in urban planning, architecture, and designing. This partnership has immense potential for future development,” he said. (ANI)
