In a significant move ahead of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Lucknow Super Giants have roped in New Zealand’s pace bowler Matt Henry. Announced on March 30, 2024, Henry is set to replace England’s all-rounder David Willey, who stepped back from the tournament citing personal reasons.
Matt Henry, known for his formidable fast bowling, was acquired at his base price of INR 1.25 crores. With a robust international cricket portfolio, Henry has donned the New Zealand jersey in 25 Tests, 82 ODIs, and 17 T20 Internationals, showcasing his prowess across formats.
Before joining the Lucknow Super Giants, Henry has had stints with IPL teams such as the Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings, adding valuable experience to his profile. His IPL journey includes appearances in two matches for the Punjab Kings during the 2017 season.
This latest acquisition by the Lucknow Super Giants marks a strategic move to strengthen their bowling lineup, as they aim for glory in the upcoming IPL season.
