Tamil director Mari Selvaraj, renowned for his critically acclaimed films such as Pariyerum Perumal, Karnan, and Maamannan, has sparked excitement among fans with hints of a potential collaboration with Superstar Rajinikanth. During a media interaction following the screening of his upcoming film Vaazhai in Chennai on August 21, Mari Selvaraj expressed his desire to work with the iconic actor and revealed that discussions about a project are already underway.
Mari Selvaraj shared, “We are in talks. Superstar Rajinikanth likes me and I like him. It is my desire to do a film with him. Rajini sir called and spoke to me after Pariyerum Perumal, Karnan, and Maamannan. So, let’s see.” This revelation has fueled speculation about a possible future project involving the celebrated director and the much-admired actor.
Vaazhai, which is set to release on August 23, features Ponvel as the protagonist Sivanaindhaan, a devoted fan of Rajinikanth, and Raghul as his friend Sekar, who is a fan of Kamal Haasan. The film has generated considerable buzz ahead of its release, further amplified by Mari Selvaraj’s comments about his aspirations to work with Rajinikanth.
On the professional front, Rajinikanth has recently completed the shooting and dubbing for his upcoming film Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel. The film is currently in the post-production phase and is slated for release on October 10. This date marks a notable clash with Suriya’s highly anticipated film Kanguva, which will also be released on the same day.
Following Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth is set to appear in Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The shooting for Coolie is progressing steadily, and the film is scheduled to hit theatres in 2025. Produced by Sun Pictures, Coolie has already generated significant interest among fans and industry insiders alike.
As for Mari Selvaraj, after the release of Vaazhai, he will shift focus to his next project, Bison, which stars Dhruv Vikram. Mari Selvaraj mentioned that 70 percent of the shooting for Bison is complete, but the release of Vaazhai has temporarily paused work on this project. The remaining 20-25 days of shooting are expected to resume shortly, with Bison also slated for release in 2025.
This news has set the stage for what could be an exciting collaboration between Mari Selvaraj and Rajinikanth, adding to the anticipation surrounding both their upcoming projects and potential future endeavors.
