A review meeting chaired by the District Magistrate discussed preparations for Census 2027 in Gautam Buddh Nagar, emphasizing digital data collection and strict timelines.

Gautam Buddh Nagar | March 16, 2026 — A review meeting to assess preparations for the National Census 2027 was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate and Principal Census Officer of Gautam Buddh Nagar.

During the meeting, the District Magistrate stated that the census is a task of national importance, as the data collected plays a crucial role in policy formulation and development planning for the country.

Census to Be Conducted Through Digital Mode

The District Magistrate informed that Census 2027 will be conducted entirely through digital platforms, with a strong emphasis on data accuracy and timely completion.

Officials were directed to ensure that all census-related activities are carried out within the stipulated timelines while maintaining high standards of data quality.

Two Phases of Census Process

The census will be conducted in two phases:

Phase I: From May 22 to June 20, 2026, which will include house listing and housing census.

Phase II: From February 9 to February 28, 2027, during which the actual population enumeration will be carried out.

Data collection in both phases will be done using mobile applications, while real-time monitoring will be conducted through the Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS) portal.

Additionally, citizens will have the option to self-enumerate online through a portal between May 7 and May 21, 2026 during the first phase.

Training of Census Staff

Officials informed that three master trainers from the district have already received training at the national level.

These master trainers will train 72 field trainers, who in turn will train over 4,000 enumerators and supervisors responsible for field-level data collection.

Training sessions for field trainers are scheduled to be held on March 23, 24 and 25.

Instructions to Complete Preparatory Work

The District Magistrate directed all concerned departments and charge officers to complete the creation of house listing blocks on the CMMS portal and assign work to enumerators before March 31, 2025.

He stressed that any negligence in census work will not be tolerated. Departments including Basic Education, Secondary Education and Panchayati Raj were instructed to immediately provide lists of employees who can be deployed for census duties.

Officials were also asked to prepare lists of Panchayat assistants, sanitation workers and employment assistants who are familiar with mobile phones, tablets and computers.

Concern Over Absence of Noida Authority Officer

The District Magistrate also expressed strong displeasure over the absence of the charge officer from the Noida Authority during the meeting.

Senior officials present included Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) and District Census Officer Atul Kumar, A.K. Rai from the Directorate of Census Operations Uttar Pradesh, Joint Director Abhimanyu Singh, Deputy Director and District Census In-charge Pradeep Kumar, Utkarsh Pandey, and other officials from the district administration.

Representatives from Greater Noida Authority, YEIDA, various tehsils and Noida Authority also attended the meeting.
