Manchester United’s winger Jadon Sancho has made a significant comeback to training after a prolonged absence of 10 months, marking a resolution of his differences with manager Erik ten Hag. The reconciliation took place at the Carrington Training Centre, where both parties addressed their issues following a public fallout last year.
Jadon Sancho, 24, had a tumultuous season with United, making only three appearances before being loaned back to Borussia Dortmund due to strained relations with Ten Hag. The conflict escalated in September when Jadon Sancho was excluded from the squad for a match against Arsenal, with Ten Hag citing poor training performances. In response, Sancho criticized Ten Hag on social media, resulting in his exclusion from the first team and subsequent training with the youth squad.
Recently, United showcased Jadon Sancho’s return to first team training through a social media post as they kick off preparations for the upcoming season.
During his training return, Jadon Sancho was seen interacting with teammate Marcus Rashford, indicating a positive atmosphere within the squad.
In his loan spell at Dortmund from January onwards, Jadon Sancho excelled, notably in the Champions League semi-final against Paris St Germain. Despite Dortmund’s defeat to Real Madrid in the final, Ten Hag acknowledged Jadon Sancho’s talent and contribution.
Reflecting on Jadon Sancho’s performance, Ten Hag praised his abilities and reaffirmed his value to Manchester United, expressing optimism about his future with the club.
Jadon Sancho is set to miss United’s pre-season opener against Rosenborg in Norway due to his delayed start in training. However, he is expected to be fully available for selection soon, according to club sources.
