Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 6 (ANI): In the wake of civil unrest in Bangladesh, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has contacted the Ministry of External Affairs to provide all possible help urgently to the students and take necessary steps in regard of arranging their safe return to India.

“The unrest in Bangladesh has raised questions about the safety of foreign nationals, especially students stranded in troubled areas there. Considering all this Chief Minister Shinde has given priority for the safety of students from Maharashtra studying there,” stated an official release by the CMO.

CM Shinde has interacted with the Ministry of External Affairs and has highlighted the need for immediate action in view of the seriousness of the situation there in Bangladesh.

It has been requested to provide all possible help to affected students there. Chief Minister Shinde has discussed to ensure their immediate safety, to relocate them to a safe place in Bangladesh if necessary, to speed up the process of their safe return to India, the release stated.

In order to get information about the students stranded in Bangladesh and provide immediate help to them, a list of students from the State currently there has been compiled and made available to the Ministry of External Affairs. So it will be possible to contact these students immediately and provide help. A team has also been formed by the State government to monitor the situation there and be in touch with the central authorities and the affected families.

Coordination is being done with the Indian mission in Bangladesh, so that measures can be taken for the safety of the students.

CM Shinde said, “the safety of the students is the highest priority. All necessary measures are being taken for their safe return to their homeland. The State government firmly stands with the families of the affected students during this challenging time”. (ANI)
