DUBLIN, Ohio, 17 October 2024—Following a competitive proposal process and in-depth review, LIBROS, New Mexico’s academic library consortium, has selected OCLC’s WorldShare Management Services (WMS) as its library services platform. LIBROS has been using WMS for the past 10 years.
LIBROS, managed by the University of New Mexico, includes 17 university, research, and special libraries that share WMS as their library services platform. With a focus on collaborative services and optimizing resources, member libraries hold 47 million items in their collections and serve tens of thousands of patrons every year.
LIBROS needed a platform that could continue to serve all its libraries, from the University of New Mexico’s large research libraries to mid-sized regional universities, and small museum libraries. After 10 successful years using WMS, the consortium was required to solicit new proposals for a library services platform and thoroughly evaluate the options, including WMS.

WorldShare Management Services, built with WorldCat as its foundation, allows library staff to better meet the teaching, learning, and research needs of their users. With cataloging, circulation, acquisitions, e-resource management, and resource sharing capabilities, WMS makes it possible for libraries of all sizes to use their resources to make the greatest impact while easily extending their reach beyond their own electronic and print collections.
