In the latest episode of the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, two contestants faced off on the hot seat with mixed results. The episode saw Satnam Singh, a school cab driver from Delhi, and Shreem Sharma, an astrology student, compete for the top prize. While Satnam Singh won Rs 10,000, it was Sharma who came closest to winning the grand prize.
Sharma, who played a strong game throughout the episode, managed to accumulate Rs 12.5 lakh but fell short of the Rs 25 lakh prize due to a challenging question about Rabindranath Tagore. By the time he reached the 13th question, Sharma had used up all his lifelines. Amitabh Bachchan presented him with the Rs 25 lakh question: “The name of which of these locations was changed to Tagore Square for a day during the centenary celebrations of Rabindranath Tagore?”
The options were: A. Red Square, Moscow B. Times Square, New York C. Trafalgar Square, London D. St. Peter’s Square, Vatican
Uncertain about the correct answer, Sharma decided to quit the game, opting to take home Rs 12.5 lakh. Amitabh Bachchan later revealed that the correct answer was option B, Times Square, New York.
During the episode, Sharma shared a personal story that added a heartfelt dimension to his appearance. He revealed that it had been his mother’s dream for him to sit on the hot seat of Kaun Banega Crorepati. When Sharma received the call on May 3 informing him of his selection for the show, he undertook a rigorous fast for 108 days, consuming only fruits. Moved by his dedication, Amitabh Bachchan called for sweets and offered them to Sharma, marking the end of his long fast.
In upcoming episodes, the show will feature Olympic medalists Manu Bhaker and Aman Sehrawat. They are scheduled to appear on Kaun Banega Crorepati on September 5, and have already filmed their segment with Amitabh Bachchan.
The episode highlighted the blend of knowledge and personal stories that make Kaun Banega Crorepati a unique and compelling television experience, continuing to capture the audience’s interest with its mix of challenging questions and emotional moments.
