In the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 (KBC 16), Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan hosted its first Adivasi contestant, Banti Vadiva, who garnered attention for his impressive performance and generous winnings. Despite his strong showing, Banti Vadiva missed the opportunity to become the first crorepati of this season by one question.
Banti Vadiva, who hails from a modest background, managed to secure Rs 50 lakh on the show but did not advance past the Rs 1 crore question. The challenging question that stumped him was: “In 1948, which of these did the Bengali sculptor Chintamoni Kar win for an artwork titled ‘The Stag’?” Unsure of the correct answer and aware that a wrong response would reduce his prize money to Rs 3.2 lakh, Banti Vadiva chose to withdraw from the game. His cautious decision was met with approval from Amitabh Bachchan, who praised his approach.
Banti Vadiva’s guess, “Pythagoras Prize,” was incorrect. The correct answer was “Olympic Medal.” Bachchan elaborated that in 1948, during the London Olympics, art competitions were held, where Chintamoni Kar won a silver medal for his artwork titled ‘The Stag.’
The episode aired on September 5, and Bachchan took a moment to commend Banti Vadiva for his wisdom and knowledge, stating, “On Teacher’s Day, Banti proved that it’s knowledge and wisdom that takes you places in life. It doesn’t matter where you come from, but what matters is the knowledge that you hold.” The audience applauded Banti Vadiva with a standing ovation, recognizing his achievement and perseverance.
Earlier in the episode, Banti Vadiva shared his humble beginnings, revealing that he had only Rs 260 in his bank account when he arrived in Mumbai. His participation in KBC 16 has now significantly changed his financial situation, leaving him with over Rs 50 lakh.
The same episode also featured 2024 Paris Olympic medal winners Manu Bhaker and Aman Sherawat, who collectively won Rs 25 lakh on the show. Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 continues to be a platform showcasing remarkable stories and achievements, airing on Sony TV and streaming live on SonyLIV.
