The much-awaited Chief Minister Anil Bhagya scheme has been launched by the state of Karnataka, aiming to provide free LPG connections to its residents, particularly those belonging to below poverty line (BPL) families. Under this initiative, eligible beneficiaries will receive free LPG connections, a double gas hob cooker, and two refills, promoting the use of clean and environmentally friendly cooking methods.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Residency : Only Karnataka residents are eligible to avail of the scheme’s benefits.
2. BPL Families : Applicants must belong to below poverty line (BPL) families to qualify.
3. Construction Workers : Registered construction workers without an existing LPG connection are eligible.
4. Ration Card Holders : AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) and PHH (Priority Household) ration card holders without an LPG connection are eligible.
5. Exclusion : Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries are not eligible to receive benefits under this scheme.
6. Aadhaar Number : Applicants must possess an Aadhaar number to apply.
Implementation and Funding
– The scheme’s implementation involves district-level nomination committees headed by the respective district ministers.
– The Department of Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, and Legal Metrology oversees the transfer of funds and reimbursements to petrol agencies.
– The Forest Department is responsible for determining the list of beneficiaries for each financial year.
– The application process includes offline filing of forms in rural areas and submission to ward offices in urban areas.
