Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra launched a strong criticism of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of deteriorating the condition of roads across the national capital. Mishra, who is now part of the newly formed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Delhi, claimed that under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, the city’s roads had fallen into disrepair, with broken roads, potholes, and waterlogging becoming a common sight throughout the city.
In an interview with the media, Mishra said, “Under Arvind Kejriwal’s government, the condition of roads in Delhi worsened. Everywhere, the roads are either broken or dusty, with potholes and waterlogging. It is clear that the roads need immediate fixing, and today, all cabinet ministers have taken to the streets to ensure the necessary actions are taken.” He went on to criticize Kejriwal’s leadership, stating, “The culture of neglecting work, which was prevalent during Kejriwal’s tenure, will end now. The officials of all departments need to understand that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, work will be done.”
Following his statements, it was reported that Kapil Mishra has been assigned key portfolios, including Law and Justice, Labour, Employment, Art and Culture, Language, and Tourism. His remarks reflect a broader focus by the new government to address infrastructural issues in Delhi, with road conditions being a top priority.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s newly appointed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also took proactive steps to address the city’s infrastructure problems. On Friday, she held a meeting with officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Jal Board to discuss road conditions, including the issues of potholes and waterlogging. Addressing the media after the meeting, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced, “In yesterday’s cabinet meeting, we approved the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which had been blocked by the AAP government. The scheme will soon be available to the public. Today, we have called officials from the PWD and Jal Board for a meeting to take charge of the potholes issue.” Gupta emphasized that her government would prioritize water supply management and road repairs.
The Chief Minister further highlighted that upcoming cabinet meetings would focus on critical matters, including the tabling of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports, which the previous government had not presented. Gupta’s commitment to addressing critical issues such as road repairs, pollution control, cleaning the Yamuna River, and focusing on women’s welfare underscores the new government’s intention to bring tangible improvements to Delhi’s infrastructure.
