Prabhas and director Nag Ashwin’s ambitious project, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, continues its triumphant march at the global box office, approaching the coveted Rs 600 crore mark. The film, which blends sci-fi elements with Indian mythology, has garnered massive acclaim and unprecedented earnings since its theatrical release on June 27.
In just five days, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has amassed an impressive Rs 343 crore nett in India alone. The Telugu and Hindi versions of the film have particularly stood out, surpassing expectations and dominating the box office across various regions. On its fifth day, the film added another Rs 35 crore nett in India, pushing its global gross to an estimated Rs 600 crore as of July 2.
Vyjayanthi Movies, the production house behind the film, reported a staggering Rs 555 crore gross within the first four days of release. This exceptional performance underscores the film’s widespread appeal and strong box office presence.
The breakdown of collections by language reveals significant contributions from the Telugu and Hindi versions, with the Telugu version earning Rs 182 crore and the Hindi version amassing Rs 128 crore by July 1. The Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions also contributed Rs 20.3 crore, Rs 11.2 crore, and Rs 2.1 crore respectively.
‘Kalki 2898 AD’ maintained a robust occupancy rate of 47.18% (Telugu version) on July 1, with peak attendance during evening and night shows. As the film progresses into weekdays, its ability to sustain momentum will be closely observed.
Beyond India, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is also making waves in international markets, notably in Russia, further bolstering its global box office appeal.
Directed and written by Nag Ashwin, the film features a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and a supporting ensemble featuring Shobhana, Pasupathy, Saswata Chatterjee, Anna Ben, Disha Patani, and Brahmanandam.
