To gain admission into the PhD programs at JNU, candidates must qualify through the National Eligibility Test (NET), Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), or the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Applicants are required to submit their applications online through the JNU portal at https://jnuee.jnu.ac.in. The registration process for the PhD program began on November 23, 2024, and the last date for submitting applications is December 2, 2024, until 11:50 PM.
Candidates should note that separate applications are required for admission through NET, JRF, and GATE. Specifically, for candidates applying through GATE, applications will be accepted only for the School of Engineering.
The detailed schedule for the PhD admissions process is as follows: Online submission of the application form is open from November 23 to December 2, 2024, with corrections to be made to the particulars of the application form on the website between December 3 and 4, 2024. The university will then issue invitations for the viva voce examinations by December 12, 2024 (tentative), with the actual viva voce examinations scheduled from December 16 to 21, 2024 (tentative).
The first merit list for PhD admissions is expected to be published by December 30, 2024 (tentative), followed by pre-enrolment registration and fee payment between December 30, 2024, and January 1, 2025. The second merit list will be released on January 8, 2025 (tentative), with the second round of pre-enrolment registration and fee payment scheduled for January 8-10, 2025 (tentative). Physical verification of admission for selected candidates will take place from January 13 to 16, 2025.
A third and final merit list will be released on January 24, 2025 (tentative), and the final round of registration and fee payment will occur from January 24-26, 2025 (tentative). The physical verification of admission for the third list of candidates will take place from January 28 to 29, 2025. The deadline for completing the admission and registration process is set for February 5, 2025.
