During the third Test match between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane, former England cricketer and current commentator Isa Guha found herself in hot water for using a controversial term about Jasprit Bumrah. While commentating on Day 2, Isa Guha used the term “primate,” which translates to “ape.” This remark sparked a backlash, with people drawing parallels to the infamous “Monkeygate scandal” of 2008. Although Isa Guha later apologized, her choice of words has ignited widespread discussion.

Isa Guha is a well-known figure in the cricketing world. She played international cricket for England for several years and is now a prominent TV commentator and radio broadcaster. She shares her insights on various aspects of cricket and writes columns for leading websites. She transitioned into the world of commentary and writing in 2012.

Isa Guha was born in May 1985 in Buckinghamshire, England. Of Indian origin, she was the first woman of Indian descent to play international cricket for England. Her parents had migrated to the United Kingdom from Kolkata, where Isa was born. Her love for cricket was evident from a young age, and she began playing the sport at the age of eight. By 13, she had secured a spot in England’s development team.

She made her international debut for the England women’s cricket team in 2001 against Scotland. A year later, in 2002, she debuted in Test cricket against India. Isa retired from cricket in 2012 but had an impressive career, claiming 101 wickets in 83 ODIs, 18 wickets in 22 T20Is, and 29 wickets in 8 Test matches for England. Her total net worth is estimated to be around ₹12.6 crore.

In 2018, she married renowned singer Richard Thomas. Alongside her passion for chess, Isa remains actively involved in cricket through her commentary and writing, maintaining her influence in the cricketing world.
