Overview
In January 2025, compared with December 2024, industrial producer prices increased by 0.8% in both the euro area and the EU, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In December 2024, industrial producer prices grew by 0.5% in the euro area and by 0.4% in the EU.

Monthly comparison by main industrial grouping and by Member State
In the euro area in January 2025 compared with December 2024, industrial producer prices

increased by 0.3% for intermediate goods,

increased by 1.7% for energy,

increased by 0.7% for capital goods,

increased by 0.6% for durable consumer goods,

increased by 0.2% for non-durable consumer goods.
Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 0.4%.
In the EU, industrial producer prices

Among Member States for which data are available, the highest monthly increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Ireland (+6.2%), Bulgaria (+5.4%) and Sweden (+2.3%). Decreases were observed in Portugal (-2.2%), Austria (-0.6%), Slovenia (-0.5%) and Cyprus (-0.3%).

Among Member States for which data are available, the highest annual increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Ireland (+14.9%), Bulgaria (+14.4%) and Denmark (+6.4%). The largest decreases were observed in Lithuania (-5.3%), Luxembourg (-4.7%) and Estonia (-4.5%).

Revisions and timetable
Compared with data issued in the News Release of 5 February 2025, the monthly percentage change for December 2024 has been revised from +0.4% to +0.5% in the euro area and remained unchanged at +0.4% in the EU. The annual percentage change has been revised from 0.0% to +0.1% in the euro area and remained unchanged at +0.1% in the EU.
Methods and definitions
The index of producer prices shows (in the national currency of the country concerned) changes in the ex-works sale prices of all products sold on the domestic market, excluding imports. Euro area and EU indices refer to overall weighted price changes. The figures are not calendar day or seasonally adjusted.
Total industry covers NACE rev.2 sections B to D + E36. sections B to D + E36.
