An Indian-origin man, Sai Varshith Kandula, has admitted to orchestrating an attack on the White House in May 2023 with the intention of overthrowing the democratically-elected government and establishing a dictatorship inspired by Nazi ideology, US authorities revealed.
Sai Varshith Kandula, aged 20 and hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, confessed to crashing a rented truck into the White House perimeter, aiming to seize political power for himself and eradicate the existing democratic system.
US Attorney Matthew Graves stated Sai Varshith Kandula’s plan involved eliminating the US President and others to achieve his objectives, with actions designed to intimidate or coerce the government.
Court documents detailed Sai Varshith Kandula’s journey from St. Louis to Washington DC on a one-way airline ticket, where he rented a truck upon arrival at Dulles International Airport. He then drove to the White House, crashing into barriers at an intersection before brandishing a Nazi Swastika banner from his backpack.
His arrest by US Park Police and US Secret Service officers followed, resulting in damage amounting to thousands of dollars to both National Park Service and U-Haul International properties.
Sai Varshith Kandula’s premeditated attack involved weeks of planning, including attempts to secure armed security guards and large commercial vehicles, underscoring the seriousness of his intentions to subvert the US government.
