Renowned Indian actress Tabu has been confirmed to join the cast of the Max series ‘Dune: Prophecy’, taking on the role of Sister Francesca, a key character in the show.
The series, inspired by the novel ‘Sisterhood of Dune’ by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson, is set in the expansive universe of Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune’ saga, 10,000 years before the era of Paul Atreides. It follows two Harkonnen sisters as they confront threats to humanity’s future and lay the groundwork for the Bene Gesserit sect.
Tabu’s character is described as “strong, intelligent, and alluring,” with a complex history that includes a past romance with the Emperor. Her return to the palace is set to disrupt the balance of power in the capital.
Alongside Tabu, the series features a star-studded cast including Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, and others. Co-produced by Max and Legendary Television, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the beloved ‘Dune’ universe.
While the ‘Dune’ franchise has seen success with two films already released and a third in development, Tabu’s involvement in the Max series adds a new dimension to the expansive world created by Frank Herbert.
