Today, Vikram Misri, Deputy National Security Advisor of India, and his accompanying delegation were warmly received by Gen. Sultan Mohammed Al Nu’mani, Minister of the Royal Office, in Oman.
According to the information provided by the Oman Government News Agency, the meeting marks a significant milestone as part of the ongoing 9th round of the Strategic Dialogue between Oman and India.
Further, during the meeting, both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions, reflecting on the longstanding friendship and cooperation shared between India and Oman.
They delved into various areas of mutual interest and explored opportunities to further strengthen bilateral ties across multiple sectors.
It is pertinent to note that the visit by the Indian Deputy National Security Advisor comes on the heels of the ongoing talks among two nations over Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
According to the report by the Indian Express, the proposed India-Oman free trade agreement (FTA) which aim to bolster Indian exports into the West Asia region is likely to be announced soon as pending issues have been settled and a legal scrubbing of the deal is underway.
“The India-Oman FTA should be announced soon as most of the issues have been settled and the deal is undergoing legal scrubbing. Once that is done, the leadership will take a decision on its announcement. The commerce ministry intends to sign the pact before the general elections,” Indian Express quoted a person familiar to the matter saying.
