In a powerful assertion of India’s military readiness, Director General of Army Air Defence, Lieutenant General Sumer Ivan D’Cunha, said that India has the capability to strike across the entire depth of Pakistan, regardless of where its military command is based. Citing the success of “Operation Sindoor”, he emphasized the country’s ability to neutralize high-value targets with precision, and revealed that Indian forces had successfully thwarted a major drone offensive from Pakistan without any civilian casualties.
India’s firepower extends across Pakistan’s geography
Lt Gen D’Cunha said that India’s modern weapon systems, including long-range loitering munitions and indigenous technology, enable it to carry out deep strikes across Pakistan. He asserted that “the whole of Pakistan is within range” and added that even if Pakistan’s General Headquarters (GHQ) relocates from Rawalpindi to remote regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, India will still be able to reach and target it.
The remarks came in the backdrop of the Indian Army releasing a video showcasing “Operation Sindoor”—a large-scale military exercise that demonstrated the army’s offensive strike capabilities. During the operation, Indian forces used drones and guided munitions to destroy strategic Pakistani airbases, sending a clear message about the country’s preparedness and firepower.
India foils Pakistan’s massive drone attack
Lt Gen D’Cunha also revealed that Pakistan had attempted a major aerial attack using between 800 to 1,000 drones over a span of four days across India’s western border. These drones, many of which were Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs) carrying weapon payloads, were intended to target Indian civilian population centres.
However, D’Cunha said the Indian armed forces—Army, Navy, and Air Force—coordinated effectively to intercept and neutralize all drones carrying explosives. “Not a single drone carrying weapons was allowed to cause damage. There were no civilian casualties. That itself proves the success of our air defence response,” he said.
The top officer’s remarks have underlined the Indian military’s state of preparedness, indigenous technological advancement, and ability to respond swiftly to cross-border threats, reinforcing India’s strategic superiority in the region.
