Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 22 (ANI): Actor Kunal Kemmu expressed his wish to direct a sequel to India’s first zombie apocalypse film, Go Goa Gone, which starred Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. He also opened up on his experience working with Saif in the movie and said that he would love to share the screen with the actor again.

After starting as a child artist with superhit movies like ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’ and ‘Raja Hindustani’, actor Kunal Kemmu has cemented his position as an actor in the Bollywood industry with cult comedy hits such as ‘Go Goa Gone’, ‘Dhol’, ‘Golmaal 3’ and ‘Golmaal Again’.

Last year, the ‘Dhol’ actor debuted as a director with the comedy movie ‘Madgaon Express’. It starred Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, and Divyendu in the lead roles and was a hit at the box office.

Fans are now eagerly waiting for Kunal’s next directorial film, which could possibly be a sequel to ‘Go Goa Gone’ after the actor expressed his wish for the same.

While talking to ANI, Kunal said that he enjoyed working with Saif Ali Khan in ‘Go Goa Gone’ and would love to direct its sequel if given a chance. He also expressed his wish to work with his mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore, in a film.

“I briefly got to work with Saif in Go Goa Gone. So I really enjoyed doing that. I mean, it would be lovely to work with these guys (Saif and Sharmila Tagore). Not just because they’re family, but also because they’re great actors who I really respect the work of. If they ask me to direct a sequel to Goa Goa Gone, I’ll definitely make it,” said Kunal.

Go Goa Gone was directed by the renowned filmmakers Raj & DK. It starred Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu, Vir Das, and Anand Tiwari in the lead roles. It was released in 2013. The film follows a group of friends who go to Goa for a vacation and find themselves fighting zombies.

Kunal also opened up about the risks and expectations involved in the making of a sequel. He said, “It’s very scary to do a sequel because, see, in the first one, people come with no expectations. But then they find something, and they love it, and enjoy it. Now they’re going to come to see the second one with expectations. So you are already kind of thinking about that. But as nerve-wracking as it is, it’s also exciting to see what people do.”

‘Go Goa Gone 2’ was initially announced by its makers in 2018. However, due to undisclosed reasons, the film has not yet made its way to the theatres.

Actor Kunal is among the fan favourites when it comes to comedy. His impeccable comic timing skills came to the forefront after he joined the famous ‘Golmaal’ franchise, led by Rohit Shetty. He played a pivotal role in superhits ‘Golmaal Again’ and ‘Golmaal 3’.

The actor recalled the time when he was approached by ‘Golmaal’ makers for the third part and said that he was initially confused about his screen time in the film as there were already too many characters in the movie.

“When I was called for the third one, I was like, where is the space? What will I do in this? There are so many people in this. Then, when I heard it, I laughed. I had so much respect for Rohit and those writers. Because in writing a story of three characters, a person doesn’t know what to do. There are ten in this. And all ten of them kind of shine and people love all of them. So I was very happy to be a part of that,” said Kunal.

The ‘Dhol’ actor also opened up about his bond with his co-actors on the Golmaal sets.

He said, “Honestly, it’s one of those films that we feel is like a paid picnic to go to because we all enjoy each other’s company. We’re all having fun, between the action and the cut. I remember Arshad joking once. He said, “In the first part, we came standing on the bike. Then, in the 15th part, we came riding a wheelchair.”

Kunal Kemmu also revealed that he will be directing a movie for which the shoot will start by the end of 2025. (ANI)
