With the increasing popularity of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions, the risk of falling victim to UPI scams has also risen. • Beware of Unsolicited Calls: Scammers may call pretending there’s an urgent payment required for credit cards or bills. Always verify the caller’s identity through official channels before making any payments.
  • Don’t Install Unverified Apps: Fraudsters might ask you to install apps for payment. Ensure that you only use official UPI apps from trusted sources like the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  • Verify Contact Information: Be cautious of calls from individuals claiming to be relatives or friends needing urgent money. Always verify the caller’s identity through another contact method before transferring any funds.
  • Avoid Clicking Suspicious Links: Scammers share fake UPI links through email, WhatsApp, or social media. Do not click on these links and always ensure the website you are accessing is legitimate.
  • Check App Permissions: Be mindful of the permissions requested by apps on your phone. Only grant permissions necessary for the app’s functionality and review app permissions regularly.
  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication: Use two-factor authentication for your UPI transactions whenever available to add an extra layer of security.
  • Monitor Your Transactions Regularly: Regularly check your UPI transactions and bank statements to spot any unauthorized activities early.
  • Educate Yourself About Common Scams: Stay informed about the latest scam techniques and warning signs to better protect yourself against fraud.
  • Report Suspicious Activity: If you suspect you’ve been targeted by a scam, report it immediately to your bank and relevant authorities to minimize potential losses.
  • Use Secure Networks: Avoid making financial transactions over public or unsecured Wi-Fi networks to reduce the risk of data interception by scammers.
