At the Braj Raj Utsav 2023 in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, BJP MP Hema Malini captivated the audience with a dance play in honor of Saint Mirabai’s 525th birth anniversary. A distinguished Bharatnatyam dancer and acclaimed actor, Hema Malini presented a tribute to Mira Bai through a play that depicted the saint’s life with various dance performances.
In one segment, she donned a yellow and green lehenga, complemented with heavy jewelry. Another part of her performance featured her in a red and pink lehenga. For the final act, she was adorned in a white saree with a golden border, wearing a garland and playing an Ektaara, reminiscent of Mirabai’s way of singing Bhajans.

Reflecting on her performance, Hema Malini expressed her happiness that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as a spectator, attended the event for two hours. She appreciated his presence at Braj and his inauguration of a coin in Mirabai’s memory.
The event was also attended by prominent figures like Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and others. Prime Minister Modi, while speaking at the event, emphasized India’s respect for ‘Nari Shakti’ and Mirabai’s significant societal contributions. He praised Mirabai’s role in shaping history, highlighting the strength and self-confidence of women. Modi also noted the cultural significance of women in Indian society, particularly in Braj, where Radha’s name is revered alongside Krishna’s.


Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also participated in the event. During the program, Prime Minister Modi released a commemorative stamp and coin in honor of Saint Mirabai and visited the Lord Krishna Janmabhoomi.
