Newswise — WASHINGTON (February 19, 2025) – In 2018, 14,916 lives were lost to gun violence in America. Each of these lives is represented by a single embroidered star in Hank Willis Thomas’s installation, “Falling Star Series (14,916 – 2018),” now on display at the Corcoran School of Arts and Design at the George Washington University.
This work is part of a larger series that includes pieces representing gun violence victims from 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021. It serves as both a memorial and a visualization of the ongoing crisis of gun violence in the United States.
