The doodle, which features animated animals engaged in various summer games, celebrates the opening of the Paris Olympics, which officially begins today, July 26, and runs through August 11. The colorful and vibrant artwork will be displayed throughout the day.
The doodle, created to commemorate the global sporting event, redirects users to search results related to the latest updates on the Paris Olympics when clicked. Google has not disclosed the name of the designer behind this interactive piece.
The Olympics officially open today with a grand opening ceremony set on the Seine River in Paris. The event’s closing ceremony, featuring a parade of flags and athletes, is scheduled for August 11. Although the official ceremony begins today, preliminary rounds in several sports, including archery, soccer, handball, and rugby, commenced two days earlier on July 24.
In the 2024 Games, India will be represented by 117 competitors across 69 events, competing for a total of 95 medals. Among the notable Indian athletes are javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, badminton stars PV Sindhu, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu. These athletes are among the favorites to win medals for India.
Following the opening ceremony, India’s campaign at the Paris Olympics will officially begin with the Indian men’s hockey team’s first pool game against New Zealand on July 27. Additionally, badminton, boxing, shooting, and table tennis events will start on the same day.
The Olympics will be broadcast live on Sports 18 and the Viacom 18 network and will also be available for free live streaming on the JioCinema app.
