  • This racket’s exposure is expected to escalate the political debate around illegal immigration in Delhi.
  • This revelation comes at a critical time as Delhi prepares for its Assembly elections in February.

In a major crackdown ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, police have exposed a racket involved in creating voter IDs and other essential documents for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, enabling them to claim Indian citizenship. The operation resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals, including document manipulators, Aadhaar operators, and tech experts.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan revealed that the racket was using a fake website to produce voter IDs, Aadhaar cards, and other essential identification documents for illegal immigrants. The police seized a significant number of fake documents and related equipment during the raid.

According to DCP Chauhan, illegal Bangladeshi immigrants typically enter India through forested areas and train routes. Once in Delhi, this gang facilitated the creation of their identification documents. The police are now investigating the extent of the racket, identifying accomplices, and determining how many such fake IDs and voter cards have already been issued.

This revelation comes at a critical time as Delhi prepares for its Assembly elections in February. The issue of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants has already become a contentious topic in the political arena. Recently, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor ordered the police to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from the city. Following these directives, the police have launched extensive campaigns to verify documents of suspected individuals.

The illegal influx and subsequent acquisition of voter IDs by Bangladeshi immigrants have further intensified the political rivalry between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Both parties have traded accusations, blaming each other for negligence in handling this critical issue.

This racket’s exposure is expected to escalate the political debate around illegal immigration in Delhi. Authorities are under pressure to ensure that the elections remain fair and free from manipulation. Meanwhile, the police are focused on unearthing the full scope of the operation to prevent further misuse of forged documents.

This incident not only raises concerns about national security but also highlights the vulnerabilities in the system that allow such illegal activities to flourish. As investigations continue, the crackdown is seen as a necessary step toward maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and addressing the larger issue of illegal immigration in the capital.
