In a significant development for India-France relations, French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou inaugurated the “Bureau de France” in Hyderabad, aimed at enhancing cooperation between France and Telangana.
The branch office of the Consulate General of France in Bengaluru, known as ‘Bureau de France,’ was officially opened at T-Hub, Raidurg.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday, witnessed the presence of key dignitaries including Thierry Berthelot, Consul General of France in Bangalore, and Telengana Minister for Information and Technology, D Sridhar Babu.
Expressing pride in the inauguration, Ambassador Thierry Mathou highlighted France’s commitment to expanding its network in India. He thanked Indian partners, particularly T-Hub and the Government of Telangana, for their support.
The collaboration between France and T-Hub marks a significant milestone in fostering innovation and collaboration, according to CEO Mahankali Srinivas Rao. Both entities aim to leverage synergies between their nations, unlocking new opportunities in the global innovation landscape.
The decision to establish the Bureau de France in Hyderabad, along with a Consulate General of India in Marseille, was announced by Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Narendra Modi during their meeting in Paris on July 14, 2023, and reiterated on January 26, 2024.
Located within Hyderabad’s T-Hub, the Bureau de France aims to strengthen ties between France and Telangana, particularly in sectors such as space, technology, and industry. It will also offer consular support to the French community in Telangana.
Telangana’s status as a major investment destination, coupled with its conducive policies for foreign investments and skilled workforce, makes it an ideal location for the Bureau de France.
The French diplomatic and consular network in India, one of France’s largest globally, includes the Embassy of France in New Delhi, four consulate generals, and two Bureaus de France.
