In response to a complaint filed by the National Commission for Women (NCW), the Delhi Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a social media user for making derogatory remarks about Smriti Singh, the widow of Captain Anshuman Singh, a Kirti Chakra awardee (posthumous). The FIR, filed by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operation (IFSO) unit, invokes sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
