External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, commenced his official visit to South Korea with a series of crucial meetings aimed at bolstering the strategic partnership between India and the Republic of Korea (RoK). On the first day of his visit, EAM engaged in discussions that underscored the shared interests and burgeoning cooperation between the two nations.
The day began with a significant meeting between EAM Jaishankar and Director of National Security, Chang Ho-jin, in Seoul. Addressing the convergence of interests in the Indo-Pacific region and various global issues, the dialogue set a promising tone for the rest of the engagements.

Later in the day, EAM Jaishankar interacted with representatives from a renowned think tank of the RoK, emphasizing the increasing exchanges between the two countries as their partnership evolves. The insightful conversation further highlighted the deepening ties and mutual understanding.

Continuing his diplomatic agenda, EAM Jaishankar met with Trade, Industry, and Energy Minister Ahn Dukgeun to deliberate on the substantial economic cooperation between India and South Korea. The discussions encompassed existing trade relations and explored avenues for future collaboration, reaffirming the centrality of economic ties in the bilateral relationship.

10th India – ROK Joint Commission Meeting
On the second day of his visit, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar’s engagements in South Korea continue to underscore the strategic significance of his trip. A key highlight is his participation in the 10th India – Republic of Korea Joint Commission Meeting (JCM), where he co-chairs alongside Cho Tae-yul, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
It is pertinent to note that, the JCM is expected to comprehensively review the entire gamut of bilateral cooperation and explore avenues for further strengthening it. It will also provide an opportunity for the two sides to exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
