During his visit to Singapore, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar engaged in significant bilateral meetings on Monday.
On the final day of his two-day visit, Dr. Jaishankar held talks with key leaders of the Singapore Cabinet, including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in bilateral partnerships and addressing regional and global challenges. Elaborating on the talks during the meeting with Singapore’s PM, the EAM said, “Honored to call on Prime Minister @leehsienloong at The Istana. Conveyed the personal greetings of PM @narendramodi. Valued his perspectives on the current state of the world. His positive sentiments on the India-Singapore relationship have always been a source of strength for our ties.”
Additionally, Dr. Jaishankar met with Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, where they reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation and discussed preparations for the next ISMR meeting. They also exchanged views on marking 60 years of diplomatic ties and discussed regional dynamics, particularly in the Indo-Pacific and West Asia.
Furthermore, discussions on partnership in trade, semiconductors, space, green energy, supply chains, and defense were held during meetings with Singapore’s Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. Dr. Jaishankar also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong to explore avenues for advancing the India-Singapore relationship, focusing on new-age technologies and addressing global economic challenges.
