Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], January 21 (ANI): Ahead of the much-anticipated ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa urged the state government on Sunday to declare a holiday in the state on January 22, providing citizens with the opportunity to witness the historic event.

Vijayendra highlighted the significance of the day, describing it as historic not only for India but for people worldwide.

He emphasised that the BJP and JDS have jointly urged the Congress-led state government to declare a holiday while criticising the latter for not taking any decision in this regard.

“Tomorrow is a historic day for people all over the world. BJP and JDS have together urged the state government to declare a holiday to give people the opportunity to watch such a historic event. The present Congress government in Karnataka has not taken any decision in this regard. Even now, it’s not too late,” Vijayendra said.

Earlier, the Centre announced on Thursday that all central government offices will be closed for a half-day on January 22 in view of the ‘Pran Patishtha’ ceremony of Ram Lalla at Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

As per the notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, all central government offices, central Institutions and central industrial establishments across the country shall remain closed for half a day until 2:30 pm.

Following in the footsteps of the central government, the states including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Goa and Odisha have also declared holidays for educational institutions and government offices on the momentous day,

The Union Territories namely Puducherry and Chandigarh have also declared a holiday in view of the Pran Pratishtha.
