Newswise — The NYT investigation of Cesar Chavez highlights the moral dilemma of reconciling Chavez’s accomplishments in light of sex assault allegations.
Loren Cannon, a Philosophy lecturer at Cal Poly Humboldt, has expertise in applied ethics and can speak to:
– How society grapples with two sides of a celebrated national figure: the hero vs. the human.
– The importance of honoring both the stories of survivors and the farmworkers movement.
Cannon’s work centers around exploring how to hold people accountable while honoring the stories not heard. He has been interviewed by NPR and other media outlets, and he has presented nationally and internationally on topics of philosophical ethics.
