In a significant stride towards fostering self-reliance among women from Backward Classes, the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) has introduced the “New Swarnima Loan Scheme”. This initiative aims to empower women through accessible financial support, marking a pivotal moment for aspiring entrepreneurs and those seeking economic independence.
Objectives and Eligibility
The primary objective of the New Swarnima Scheme is to cultivate self-dependence among women belonging to Backward Classes through term loans. Eligible applicants include women identified under the Backward Classes category as per notifications by Central or State Governments, with an annual family income not exceeding Rs. 3.00 lakh.
Salient Features
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries can avail loans up to Rs. 2.00 lakh without any personal investment in projects costing up to this amount. Notably, the scheme offers a subsidized rate of interest, significantly lower than general loan schemes, ensuring financial accessibility. The loan structure involves 95% financing from NBCFDC and 5% from channel partners, easing the financial burden on the beneficiaries.
Financial Assistance and Repayment
Beneficiaries benefit from a reduced interest rate structure: NBCFDC charges a nominal 2% per annum to channel partners, who, in turn, charge 5% per annum to the beneficiaries. This facilitates affordable financing for entrepreneurial ventures and business initiatives. Repayment is structured in quarterly installments over a maximum period of 8 years, including a moratorium period of six months on principal recovery.
Impact and Outreach
Since its inception, the New Swarnima Scheme has made significant strides in empowering women across various states and union territories. The scheme’s implementation has been tailored to address regional needs, ensuring equitable distribution of opportunities and resources.
The launch of the New Swarnima Loan Scheme by NBCFDC underscores its commitment to inclusive growth and economic empowerment among women from Backward Classes. This initiative not only promotes entrepreneurship but also reinforces the government’s dedication to uplifting marginalized communities through sustainable financial interventions.
The New Swarnima Scheme stands as a beacon of hope, promising a brighter future for women entrepreneurs nationwide, enabling them to realize their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic landscape.
