Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has made significant strides in uplifting various societal sections through a series of government schemes and initiatives. Among his primary focuses is the Other Backward Classes (OBC), a community to which he himself belongs. Under his leadership, Haryana has seen the introduction of several measures aimed at improving the socio-economic status of the OBC community.
Raising the Creamy Layer Income Limit
One of the key initiatives of CM Nayab Singh Saini’s administration has been the increase in the annual income limit for the creamy layer of the OBC category in government jobs from ₹6 lakh to ₹8 lakh, excluding salary and agricultural income. This adjustment is designed to expand access to job opportunities for OBC candidates by aligning with the central government’s guidelines. Additionally, reservations for backward classes in Group-A and Group-B posts have been increased from 15 percent to 27 percent, ensuring greater representation for the OBC community in these positions. The government has also prioritized addressing the backlog of jobs reserved for backward classes.
Focus on Employment and Skill Development
CM Nayab Singh Saini’s administration has taken significant steps to enhance employment opportunities and skill development for the OBC community. The Haryana Skill Employment Corporation now offers a 27 percent reservation for OBC candidates, a move aimed at providing more job prospects for young people from the community. During the Sarva Samaj Samrasta Sammelan of OBC Morcha, where CM Saini was the chief guest, he reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting and promoting OBC interests.
In addition to employment initiatives, the state government has introduced various schemes to support the OBC community in education and skill development. Scholarships are being provided to OBC students to ensure better access to education, while skill development programs are equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in the job market. The central government has also recognized backward areas, including those with significant OBC populations, as aspirational districts, where ongoing development schemes are being implemented to improve living standards.
Financial Support and Training Initiatives
Under the Bhagwan Vishwakarma Yojana, the state government has allocated a budget of ₹13,000 crore for training in 18 trades. This initiative not only provides financial assistance to trainees but also offers kits to help them develop essential skills. The program is part of a broader effort to empower the OBC community through enhanced education and vocational training.
CM Nayab Singh Saini has emphasized that both the central and state governments have delivered substantial benefits to the OBC community, surpassing the efforts of previous opposition governments. These initiatives have strengthened the support of OBC voters for the BJP, which could prove advantageous in the upcoming assembly elections.
A Tenure Focused on Equality
Throughout his tenure, CM Nayab Singh Saini has demonstrated a commitment to ensuring equal opportunities and benefits for all societal sections, with a particular focus on uplifting the OBC community. The government’s efforts have been widely praised and are expected to have a lasting positive impact on the socio-economic landscape of Haryana.
As the state moves forward, the initiatives spearheaded by CM Nayab Singh Saini continue to set a strong foundation for the OBC community, fostering growth, opportunity, and empowerment across Haryana.
