External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar embarked on a three-nation tour of Asia on Saturday.
As part of the visit, he arrived for the first leg of his tour to Singapore, starting from March 23 until March 25.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the EAM announced his arrival in Singapore, marking the official commencement of his visit.
He said, “Began my Singapore visit by paying homage to Netaji and the brave Indian National Army soldiers. The INA Marker in Singapore recognizes their deep patriotism and indomitable spirit that remain an inspiration for generations to come.”
Notably, the EAM’s visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges and is also focusing on enhancing bilateral relations.
Scheduled for two days, EAM Dr. S Jaishankar’s visit will mainly focus on bilateral initiatives – ranging from one-on-one meetings with leaders from Singapore to reviewing the current status of bilateral ties.
In a statement released, the Singapore Foreign Ministry said the visit by EAM Dr. Jaishankar would be a good opportunity for both sides to exchange views on regional and global developments and to continue discussions on the good progress in bilateral cooperation.
“Minister Jaishankar will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, and Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean. He will also meet Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, and Minister for Home Affairs and Law K Shanmugam,” the Ministry added.
