The University of Delhi (DU) has announced the first round of seat allocations for undergraduate programmes for the academic session 2024-25. This year, DU is offering admissions across 69 colleges, departments, and centers, with approximately 71,600 seats available (excluding supernumerary seats). The admissions process covers 1,559 programme and college combinations.
According to data provided by the university, a total of 2,45,287 candidates applied for phase one of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS(UG)). Of these, 1,85,543 applicants completed phase two by submitting their programme and college preferences. The university received a total of 1,72,18,187 preferences.
Candidates shortlisted in the first round are advised to log in to their dashboards and accept their allocated seats by Sunday, August 18, 4:59 PM. Additionally, they must ensure that their fees are submitted by August 21, 4:59 PM. Only candidates who complete the payment will be eligible to opt for an “Upgrade” in subsequent rounds.
In a press release, DU also announced a new feature on the candidate dashboard, allowing students to view detailed information on cutoffs and ranks that determine seat allocation based on their category and quota.
The university will release the common rank, cut-off rank, programme-specific CUET score, and cut-off score for all programmes applied to by candidates. Allocations will be based on the unique common rank; therefore, having a score equal to the cutoff does not guarantee admission.
“It should be noted that candidates with the same programme-specific CUET scores may have different ranks. The common rank is determined by applying tie-breaking rules,” the university clarified in its release. The release also stated that ranks will not be generated for performance-based programmes such as BA (Hons) in Music, BSc in PE, HE & S, BFA, and certain supernumerary quotas (sports, ECA, CW, and ward).
