US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Hamas, demanding the immediate release of hostages held in Gaza. In a strongly worded statement on his Truth Social platform, Donald Trump declared that he was providing Israel with all necessary support to eliminate Hamas if the hostages were not freed.
“I am sending Israel everything it needs to finish the job, not a single Hamas member will be safe if you don’t do as I say,” Donald Trump stated. He further warned that there would be “hell to pay” if Hamas failed to comply, while not specifying the exact nature of US support for Israel.
This ultimatum comes amid confirmation from the White House that the US has engaged in direct negotiations with Hamas over the hostage crisis. Until now, Washington has avoided direct contact with the group, which is classified as a terrorist organization by the US government. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the negotiations had been conducted in coordination with Israel, emphasizing that President Donald Trump was acting in the best interest of the American people.
Reports indicate that two direct meetings have taken place between Hamas and a US official, following several prior communications. The talks, held in Qatar, reportedly focus on securing the release of American hostages and broader discussions on ending hostilities in Gaza. A Palestinian source disclosed that Hamas representatives met with US special envoy for hostages, Adam Boehler, in Doha in recent weeks.
According to Israeli authorities, 59 hostages remain in Gaza, with an estimated 24 believed to be alive, including American citizens. The ongoing negotiations aim to secure their release while balancing the complex geopolitical situation.
Donald Trump’s aggressive rhetoric marks the latest escalation in US policy towards Hamas. In December, he issued a similar warning, vowing severe consequences if the hostages were not released before he assumed office. His latest remarks suggest a willingness to intensify military and diplomatic pressure on Hamas if necessary.
The involvement of Qatar in the negotiations is significant. The Gulf nation, a key US ally, has long played a role in mediating conflicts in the region. It hosts a major American air base and has previously facilitated negotiations with Iran, the Taliban, and Russia. Alongside the US and Egypt, Qatar has been instrumental in ceasefire discussions between Israel and Hamas.
Despite the ongoing diplomatic efforts, Donald Trump’s statement also appeared to issue a stark warning to Gaza’s civilian population. He suggested that a better future awaited them, but only if they did not harbor hostages, adding, “If you do, you are DEAD!”
The situation remains fluid, with high-level diplomatic engagements underway. While the US pushes for hostage releases through direct negotiations, Donald Trump’s uncompromising stance signals the possibility of further escalation if Hamas does not comply.
