Dhanush’s second directorial venture, ‘Raayan’, is approaching the Rs 50-crore mark in India, with expectations to reach this milestone by today, July 29. In its first three days, the revenge thriller earned nearly Rs 42 crore nett in India and continues to perform strongly in theatres. The film, which also marks Dhanush’s 50th film as an actor, has received mixed reviews, though many have praised Dhanush’s directorial efforts.
According to the trade website Sacnilk, ‘Raayan’ recorded its highest collection since its release on Sunday, July 28. The three-day opening weekend collection stands at Rs 42.15 crore nett in India. Attention is now focused on the film’s performance during the weekdays.
On July 28, ‘Raayan’ earned approximately Rs 14.75 crore nett in India, slightly higher than its Day 1 and Day 2 collections. The film had an overall occupancy of 67.31 percent on Sunday.
Trade reports indicate that ‘Raayan’ crossed Rs 50 crore worldwide within just two days and is on track to surpass the Rs 100-crore mark in the coming week.
Written and directed by Dhanush, ‘Raayan’ is a crime drama featuring Dhanush in the lead role alongside Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, S. J. Suryah, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, and Selvaraghavan in pivotal roles. The film received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
