Tamil actor Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth have officially finalized their divorce, bringing an end to their 18-year marriage. The Chennai Family Welfare Court granted the divorce after both parties declared that reconciliation was not possible. This development follows multiple hearings of the case, which had been postponed several times due to the absence of both Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth in earlier sessions. The couple, who married in 2004, shares two sons, Linga and Yatra. Despite their separation, the former couple continues to co-parent their children and live near each other in Chennai’s Poes Garden. They are often seen sharing moments with their children on social media, indicating their ongoing commitment to family life despite the split.
The actor had first revealed their separation in a public statement on January 17, 2022, through a heartfelt post on X, where he reflected on their long journey together. “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents, and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been one of growth, understanding, adjustment, and adaptation. Today, we stand at a place where our paths separate,” Dhanush wrote. Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth also shared a similar statement, acknowledging the end of their marriage.
While Dhanush is moving on from his personal life, he is currently embroiled in a legal battle with actress Nayanthara. The dispute began when Nayanthara included a clip from their 2015 Tamil film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale without seeking permission from Dhanush. The actor-producer reportedly sent her a legal notice demanding ₹10 crore in damages for using a behind-the-scenes clip from the film, which allegedly violated his rights.
In retaliation, Dhanush filed a civil suit at the Madras High Court against Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan, and their production company, Rowdy Pictures Private Limited. The lawsuit, filed by Dhanush’s production company Wunderbar Films, claims the unauthorized use of visuals from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. The court has summoned Nayanthara and Vignesh to respond to the allegations at the next hearing. The ongoing legal feud has added to the actor’s personal challenges, highlighting the tension between the two industry figures.
