Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address to party workers in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on Friday, launched a sharp attack on opposition parties, accusing them of attempting to undermine democracy and mislead the people of India. He emphasized that the opposition’s sole aim is to capture power by spreading lies and creating confusion, despite being out of power for nearly a decade.
Addressing the crowd, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointed out that while ideological differences and protests are normal in a democratic setup, the opposition’s approach has changed significantly in recent years. He accused them of “crushing the spirit of the Constitution” and rejecting democratic norms, highlighting that their actions have now become more conspiratorial in nature. “Denied of power for the last decade, such parties are now filled with so much anger that they do not hesitate to conspire against the country and its people,” Narendra Modi said, referring to the opposition’s alleged attempts to mislead the masses with “jhoot aur afwah ki dukan” (lies and rumors).
The Prime Minister also touched on the BJP’s role in Odisha’s development, stating that despite not being in power in the state, the party has been continuously working for its growth. He acknowledged the surprising election results in Odisha, Haryana, and Maharashtra, which he said had created new confidence among the people across the country. “The success of the BJP in these states has proven the party’s capabilities and the hard work of our workers,” he added.
Highlighting the BJP’s commitment to Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the party’s efforts to respect and promote the rich culture and tradition of the state. He expressed pride in the election of Droupadi Murmu, a tribal leader from Odisha, as the President of India. “Her journey will inspire many generations to come,” said Narendra Modi, calling her election a major boost for women’s empowerment in India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke about the All India DGP/IGP Conference being held in Bhubaneswar, the first time the event is taking place in Odisha. He added that the state is being prioritized not only within India but also on the global map. The Prime Minister emphasized that since BJP’s formation of the government in Odisha, several initiatives, including the National Education Policy and central schemes, have been successfully implemented.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also discussed the BJP’s promises made during the elections, including the launch of the ‘Subhadra Yojana,’ a women empowerment scheme that aims to provide ₹50,000 to one crore women over five years. Additionally, he mentioned the procurement of paddy at ₹3,100 per quintal, a promise that the BJP government has fulfilled.
With upcoming events such as ‘Operation Demonstration, 2024’ in Puri and the ‘Pravasi Bharatiya Divas’ in Bhubaneswar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the BJP’s commitment to development and growth in Odisha.
