In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old man was stabbed to death in Delhi’s Narela area on Friday evening following a dispute over an unpaid loan. The victim, identified as Himanshu, was attacked in his apartment by four individuals, allegedly over a financial disagreement involving his friend.
Himanshu had been living with his friend, Sumit Kaushik, for the past four months. According to police, the dispute began when Ravi, one of the accused, borrowed ₹45,000 from Sumit but failed to repay it. Himanshu, taking up his friend’s cause, visited Ravi’s house in Safiyabad and reportedly threatened Ravi’s family with “consequences” if the money was not returned.
Hours after the confrontation, Ravi, accompanied by three accomplices—Sahil (24), Ashish (26), and Akshay Khatri—arrived at Himanshu’s residence around 6 PM. The group attacked Himanshu, stabbing him multiple times before fleeing the scene. A PCR call reporting the incident was received at 6:28 PM, and police immediately launched an investigation.
A senior police official confirmed that four individuals were involved in the attack. Preliminary investigations suggest the motive was linked to the financial dispute between Ravi and Sumit. “The victim was attacked and stabbed by four individuals. We have arrested three of the accused—Ravi (30), Sahil, and Ashish—while the fourth, Akshay Khatri, is currently on the run,” the official stated. A case of murder has been registered against the accused, and authorities are actively questioning those in custody to gather more details.
This incident has sparked outrage and brought attention to rising crime rates in the national capital. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal criticized the central government for failing to ensure the safety of Delhi residents. “Another painful murder. Delhi is bleeding, and the BJP government at the Centre is sitting idle. How long will the people of Delhi tolerate such conditions?” he posted on X.
The case highlights concerns over public safety and law enforcement in Delhi. While three suspects have been apprehended, efforts are underway to locate the fourth accused. The police continue to investigate the matter to bring justice to the victim and his family. Meanwhile, questions about governance and accountability in addressing crime in the city remain at the forefront of public discourse.
