In response to a tragic incident where three UPSC aspirants lost their lives due to flooding in the basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar, the Delhi government announced plans to introduce a new law to regulate coaching centres in the city. The law aims to address issues related to infrastructure, teacher qualifications, fee regulation, and misleading advertisements. A committee comprising government officials and students will be formed to frame the law, and public feedback will be sought. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has already begun cracking down on coaching centres violating existing regulations, particularly those using basements illegally.
