A serious allegation of police brutality has emerged from Shadnagar, Telangana, where a Dalit woman has claimed that she was subjected to severe torture by officers at a local police station. The woman, whose name has not been disclosed, alleges that she was assaulted by police personnel after being summoned to the station in connection with accusations of gold theft.
According to her account, the troubling incident unfolded when she was brought to the Shadnagar police station alongside her minor son. She reports that her husband was initially beaten by the officers before being released. The woman herself was then allegedly forced to remove her sari and wear shorts, following which her hands and legs were tied before she was assaulted. Despite her desperate pleas for mercy, she claims that the abuse continued.
In response to these allegations, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty has stated that the Detective Inspector (DI) of Shadnagar has been reassigned to the commissionerate headquarters while an internal investigation is conducted.
