Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 13 (ANI): Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday expressed confidence that the Congress-led coalition government would come to power in Maharashtra after the 2024 general elections.

Speaking to reporters after the nomination filing by a Congress candidate for the Legislative elections, Shivakumar said, “After the Lok Sabha elections, BJP-led NDA government may not be in power in Maharashtra. Congress will form the government there with the help of coalition partners.”

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking about former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Shivakumar said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is scared that those who left the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party might come back to their fold.

“Why did PM Modi talk about Uddhav Thackeray? He did so because he has power. After the general elections, those who left NCP and Shiva Sena will return. Hence, they are scared,” he said.

Asked if there are politicians like Eknath Shinde in Karnataka, he said, “We don’t have any Eknath Shindes in our party. They may have.”

Expressing confidence that the Congress party would win all six seats in the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections, Shivakumar said, “Congress government is aware of the issues faced by teachers and graduates and we have tried to resolve their issues whenever we have come to power.”

“We have mentioned in the manifesto many of the issues including NEP. We have a guarantee scheme for the unemployed graduates. The previous government hasn’t done anything for the graduates and teachers. We are confident that graduates and teachers will support Congress this time,” he said. (ANI)
