Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 14 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday inaugurated the Water Conservation and Enhancement Scheme at the head of the Jaoli Canal located on the left bank of the Song River in Doiwala development block under the Water Conservation Campaign in Kaluwala.

This scheme of water conservation and enhancement has been completed by the Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARA) under the NABARD (National Bank For Agriculture And Rural Development) fund at a cost of about 03 crore 80 lakhs.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released the guidelines of Water Conservation Campaign 2024. The Chief Minister also planted a sapling on this occasion.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the need for collective efforts to conserve and enhance water resources in the state.

He highlighted that both governmental initiatives and public participation are essential for this cause. Uttarakhand possesses invaluable water assets such as Naula, Dhara, and rivers. He urged everyone to pledge to utilize the water and youth of the mountains for the benefit of the state. Dhami remarked that where water flows, life thrives.

By reviving traditional practices, we can tackle future challenges. He stressed that water conservation is crucial for life, stating that the absence of water would mean the end of life.

The Chief Minister said that at present water crisis remains a challenge for the whole world. Water sources are getting depleted due to uncontrolled use. The objective of water conservation week is to make every person aware of water management.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is serious about water conservation. Various departments are being included for water conservation.

‘SARA’ has been formed with the aim of giving more strength to these efforts. About 500 drinking water schemes and 200 water streams have been identified by SARA, which are being tried to be revived.

He said that oak trees which store water are getting depleted and incidents of fire are increasing. He said that to keep our future generation safe, we will have to plant trees on a large scale to conserve water and forests.

The Chief Minister said that the road connecting Jolly Grant to Kaluwala will be constructed by Public Works. The left bank of the Song River behind Baba Kalusiddh Temple will be developed as a tourist spot.

Before the program, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami prayed at the Kalu Siddh Temple and prayed to Kalu Siddh Baba for the happiness and prosperity of the state and its people.(ANI)
