Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the ‘Krishak Unnati Yojna,’ a transformative scheme designed to bolster the agricultural sector and uplift rural livelihoods. The initiative aims to provide comprehensive input assistance to farmers, ensuring their financial stability and enhancing agricultural productivity. Launched at a ceremony held at the Saryu Prasad Agrawal stadium in Balod district, the scheme marks a significant step towards empowering farmers and fostering agricultural growth in the state.
Budgetary Brief
The scheme’s budget allocation stands at a substantial Rs 13,320 crore, reaffirming the government’s commitment to revitalizing the agricultural sector and promoting rural prosperity. This significant financial support is directed towards benefiting over 24.72 lakh farmers across Chhattisgarh, providing them with the necessary resources to optimize agricultural production and improve their livelihoods.
Benefits of the Scheme
1. Financial Support for Farmers: The ‘Krishak Unnati Yojna’ offers crucial financial assistance to farmers, enabling them to procure essential inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, thereby enhancing productivity and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices.
2. Direct Transfer of Funds: Through direct bank transfers, the scheme ensures transparency and accountability in the disbursement of funds, empowering farmers to utilize the assistance efficiently for their agricultural needs. This streamlined process minimizes delays and bureaucratic complexities, ensuring timely support to farmers.
3. Paddy Bonus Disbursement: In addition to providing input assistance, the scheme facilitated the disbursement of pending paddy bonuses from the years 2014-15 and 2015-16, amounting to Rs 3,716 crore. This initiative, implemented on Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s birthday in December last year, benefitted over 13 lakh farmers, addressing long-standing grievances and fulfilling the government’s commitment to rural welfare.
4. Support for Paddy Seed Producers: Recognizing the crucial role of paddy seed producers in sustaining agricultural activities, the scheme allocated over Rs 31 crore to 2,829 farmers involved in paddy seed production. This support aims to incentivize seed production, ensure seed quality, and enhance crop yields, thereby contributing to the overall growth of the agricultural sector.
