Highlights
  • Alcaraz secures semi-final spot with straight-set victory over Tsitsipas.
  • Faces Sinner in anticipated clash after impressive performance at Roland Garros.

Carlos Alcaraz displayed exceptional skill and determination as he clinched a spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 French Open men’s singles tournament by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets during the quarter-finals. The match, held on Tuesday, June 4 at Philippe-Chatrier, saw Carlos Alcaraz emerge victorious with a scoreline of 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, after a captivating battle that lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Throughout the encounter, Carloz Alcaraz demonstrated his dominance, particularly evident in the opening set where he secured two crucial breaks of serve. His precision with first serves proved pivotal, as he won an impressive 82 percent of points from them, while Stefanos Tsitsipas encountered challenges with his second serve, including a double fault.

Despite Stefanos Tsitsipas’s resurgence in the second set, leading to a tie-breaker, Carlos Alcaraz maintained his composure and asserted control, ultimately claiming victory in the set. In the third set, Carlos Alcaraz capitalized on a pivotal break of serve to maintain his advantage, ultimately sealing the match in his favor.

Looking ahead, Carlos Alcaraz faces a formidable opponent in Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals. Jannik Sinner’s recent victory over Grigor Dimitrov propelled him to the top-ranking position following Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal due to a knee injury. The upcoming clash between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner promises to be a riveting encounter, with the head-to-head record between the two currently tied at 4-4, with Carlos Alcaraz emerging victorious in their latest meeting earlier this year at Indian Wells.

Having narrowly missed out on a finals berth last year, Carlos Alcaraz is determined to make his mark in this year’s tournament, despite facing yet another top-ranked contender. His performance thus far underscores his exceptional talent and resilience on the clay courts of Roland Garros.
