Josh Allen led two significant scoring drives in the second half, culminating in a 15-yard touchdown pass to Quinton Morris near the end of the game, securing a 14-9 victory for the Buffalo Bills against a persistent New York Giants on Sunday evening. While many expected a dominant win from the Bills, the game was more of a tense, back-and-forth affair, with moments of messiness, and wasn’t decided until the very last, untimed play.
The Giants had a golden opportunity to score when quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw a pass to Darren Waller in the end zone from just a yard out. However, the ball just brushed past Waller’s fingers. The Giants received another chance due to a penalty against the Bills’ Terrel Bernard for interfering with Waller on a previous play. Despite facing challenges, including being scoreless in the first half and suffering two turnovers, the Bills managed to eke out a win. This was their first time being shut out in the first half since their 2019 end-of-season game against the New York Jets, a match where they rested key players after securing their playoff spot.
Meanwhile, the Giants, now standing at 1-5, faced their fourth consecutive defeat. In both halves of the game, they had drives that came tantalizingly close to scoring but ended just one yard away from Buffalo’s end zone.
Pushing and Shoving- Buffalo Bills defeat NY Giants
Tensions rose in the Bills end zone during the third quarter. The situation started when linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux, while on the ground, kicked out at Buffalo’s left tackle Dion Dawkins. Leonard Williams of the Giants responded by shoving Bills right tackle Spencer Brown. Quarterback Josh Allen also got involved, using his shoulder to bump into linebacker Bobby Okereke.
O-Line Injuries
The Giants faced challenges from the start, with two starting offensive linemen, left tackle Andrew Thomas and center John Michael Schmitz, out of action. Joshua Ezeudu, who started in place of Thomas, exited the game because of a first-half toe injury. This resulted in Justin Pugh shifting to the left tackle position. Pugh, newly added to the Giants’ practice squad this week, was playing his first game since a knee injury with Arizona the previous season.
